TOTEM on exhibit through June 4, 2016.

Confluence Gallery presents:

TOTEM

 April 23 until June 4, 2016.

The Spirit of Nature 24x36 mixed media, acrylic by Cindy Ruprecht

Free to the public

Traditionally, a totem is a spirit being, sacred object, or symbol that serves as an emblem of a group of people, such as a family, clan, lineage, or tribe.
Over 25 artists will be presenting works in a wide variety of mediums such as clay, wood, bone, metal, paper, and paint ranging in size from wearable art jewelry to large 3 dimensional pieces over 6 feet tall that will explore personal or cultural totems.

The exhibit includes work that reveals how the spirit world is woven with our everyday world often through our interaction with animal spirits.
Some of the artists, like Carolyn Nelson, have chosen to explore "the human separation from the natural and spiritual and the greater vulnerability to the impacts of life and death”.

Totem is presented at Confluence Gallery by Curators Jennifer Molesworth and Nicole Ringgold
