October 8th we will meet at the Winthrop studio of watercolor artist Paula Christen, for a FREE gathering of art and education. Paula will offer an intimate look at her studio and painting process.
An additional presentation will be given by Winthrop painter Caryl Campbell.
Each quarterly Artist to Artist gathering will be hosted by an Okanogan region artist in their working studio providing an opportunity for the resident artist to share something about themselves/their work and feature an additional educational component from another presenter.
We invite local and visiting artists to join us in an evening of socializing and learning about the craft and business of art!

Improve your watercolor skills painting fur, feathers, eyes, grass, water, and animal environments.
Using photos provided, students will paint in stages from simple to more difficult subjects completing several paintings during this two-day intensive workshop.

Stan Miller is an internationally known American artist and a signature member and award winner with the American Watercolor Society. From his working studio in Spokane, WA, Stan travels nationally and internationally teaching and judging watercolor competitions. We invite you to contribute to our exhibit One Foot3 -Thinking Inside the box at the Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA. The show will open on November 26th, 2016 and will run thru January 7th, 2017.
We are asking artists to think inside the box, for a change. We'd like you to create works of art up to but not larger than 12” x 12” x 12” (including frame and/or stand). Works can be smaller, but just not bigger. EACH PIECE MUST BE RETAIL PRICED UNDER $300. So the only limits are size and price. The subject, content and media are up to you!
Number of pieces: Up to 15 pieces per artist (we will be selling work off the shelves if possible).
Here are the rules- Each piece must be:
· No larger than 12” x 12” (for 2D, including frame) or 12” x 12” x 12” (for 3D) – Smaller is ok.
· Your own original work.
· Available for sale.
· Priced under $300 each.
· Created in the last 3 years.
· Never previously been shown in the Methow Valley area.
· Any Medium
· 2D work must be ready for hanging with appropriate hardware/wire secured to work (artwork without hanging hardware will not be hung)
Please note: the Exhibit Coordinator has the right to refuse work , even after work is delivered to the gallery, if it does not contribute to the direction, cohesiveness, available space of the show, or does not follow the parameters set forth above. We are looking for high quality execution and thoughtful content that contribute to the vision of the show as stated above.
Deadlines:
· Email Intent to Submit Form and jpegs of work and/or website by 8-26-16 (email tojmarracci@methow.com).
· Email jpegs of actual work or work in progress by 10-26-16 (must be 300 dpi for promo materials).
· Artist Statement and Bio by 11-19-16 (word doc preferred).
· Completed works, Inventory Sheet, and Confluence Gallery Contract by 11-19-16
· Show Opening 11-26-16 4pm – 8pm. All artists are encouraged to attend.
· Show Closes 1-7-17. Work will be available for pick up after 3pm.
The Confluence Gallery and Art Center is a non-profit gallery. All shipping arrangements and costs to and from the gallery of unsold works is each artist's responsibility. See Confluence Gallery Shipping Procedures form for details.

Living with Fire: Your Role in a Fire Adapted Methow Valley

Dancing the Wild Symphony: An Embodied Exploration into How the Sounds of Nature Move Us
Dancer Christina Stout will be facilitating a 4-day experiential movement workshop, called Dancing the Wild Symphony: An Embodied Exploration into How the Sounds of the Nature Move Us.
The workshop runs August 23-26th and is in connection with Confluence Gallery's "Music as Muse" exhibit in the Methow Valley, Washington. This workshop marks the culmination of a year of focused art-making, dance, and performance training for Christina. All levels of dance experience are welcomed, but some history of embodied movement practice will be quite helpful. The workshop does not cost any money; the value exchange is your sincere commitment to all workshop times and the culminating performance at Confluence Gallery.
Out-of-town participants are welcomed to camp on Christina's property along the Twisp River, very near to the workshop locations. Workshop Focus:
In this 4-day workshop, our aim is to allow the other-than-human music of the natural world to move us and move through us in unexpected ways. We will use group, partner, and individual explorations and experiments to begin moving beyond our habitual perceptual and movement patterns in order to facilitate embodied relationship, personal process, and develop expressive material for our culminating performance. The principle of synaesthesia will bring greater dimensionality and complexity to the way we perceive and experience relationship between self and other, dancer and musician, mover and moved, performer and audience. We will tune our sensing bodies to the crescendo of the dawn chorus in an aspen grove--where we will do the majority of our movement research, we'll also spend time in the studio developing our material, and finally enact our movement score during a short performance installation in the Confluence Gallery. Our material will arise through an eclectic mix of movement research techniques, improvisational dance exercises, and soul-centric and nature awareness practices. We will enact our score in the Confluence Gallery for the closing reception of the upcoming exhibit "Music as Muse" on Friday, August 26th, at 6pm. Confluence Gallery is now renting Fantastic shared/individual Studio spaces!
Suite 201 is a fantastic office or studio space on the second floor of Confluence Gallery. 385 Sq ft two adjoining rooms with a door in between. Lots of natural light. Access to shared kitchen and two restrooms.
$200 month plus $25 utilities for the shared option. $395 plus $50 utilities for the whole studio.
