Call to Artists! Hearth exhibit deadline extended to July 10th.

Call to Artists: Hearth exhibit at Confluence Gallery

We invite you to contribute to our “Hearth” exhibit atConfluence Gallery in Twisp, WA.

The show will open on September 3, 2016 and will run thru October 8, 2016.

The hearth is the heart of the home and where we experience a wide spectrum of feelings and reflect on significant events in our lives.  Our hearth is where we gather with family or alone, perhaps with a purring cat, and find warmth, peace, relaxation, food and good company. The hearth and home is witness to the beautiful and also the unpleasant moments of our lives. The hearth is where we can take off our public persona and be who we are - for better or worse.

We invite artists to create work that summons the idea of Hearth - the lighter brighter side of hearth and family or the darker, perhaps more honest side of home. Work can be in any medium and any size that will fit in a home. This will be a good exhibit for art for the wall as well as textiles, furnishings, tableware, containers, bowls, rugs etc. In addition to purely decorative work we would like to see functional pieces of art that can be put to use in daily life destined to become well used heirlooms.

Artists must reply with an “intent to submit” form found at this link:http://confluencegallery.blogspot.com/2016/05/intent-to-submit-form-for-call-to.html
And  a statement about how you will interpret Hearth and samples of your work.

Here are the details and deadlines:

Submit 3 pieces per artist for 2D/3D visual art.
Submit Functional art and craft up to 20 pieces.

Here are the rules**-  Each piece must be:
  • Your own original work.

**Please note the curator(s) have the right to refuse work, even after work is delivered to the gallery, if it does not contribute to the direction, cohesiveness, quality or available space of the show.  We are looking for high quality execution, presentation, and thoughtful content that contribute to the vision of the show.
