Call For Artists!

Our River: The Artistic Exploration of the culture and nature of the Methow River

On June 7 2014, as the first spring Chinook of the year return from the sea, the Confluence exhibit “Our River” will open.

We invite you to submit work that celebrates history and life of our river. Consider the following:
What does the river mean to you?  How does the river connect us to the sky, sea, and to each other? What is the significance of salmon and the cycle of life, death and connection? How have people depended on the river in the past? How do we celebrate the water and life of our river and ensure the future vitality of the Methow as it flows through our valley?

The show runs from June 7 – July 26, 2014 until. Artists are invited to create 2-5 pieces. A variety of visual media is encouraged. To accompany their work, artists must also submit 2 sentences or less describing their vision or Our River.

During the course of this exhibit Confluence Gallery, in partnership with the Methow Interpretive Center and salmon recovery practioners,  will hold two events about the cultural and natural history of the River. Details TBD.
